Fireball Bowling
When the flaming ball hits a pin, the pin ignites into a big fireball as well. | |
The bowling ball is filled with butane that sprays through
hundreds of holes around the outer casing of the ball. When
sensors detect that the ball has left the hand and hit the
ground,
it sprays butane out of the ball and ignites it causing a
spectacular fireball to roar down the alley towards
the pins.
The pins themselves are also filled with butane and when
hit,
spray out a cloud and ignite it. The more pins hit, the
bigger
the fireball.
This would be fun. It might add the element of danger
currently missing from bowling as well.

Maybe cross the butane ball with the piezoelectric football armor mentioned yesterday ... |
If you ever happened to be standing behind someone who
is about to bowl and accidentally releases the ball in the
wrong direction, you might change your mind about
"element of danger currently missing from bowling". |
Re the bad release, it would have to sense spinning as well as
dropping to ignite. |
Of course if you release it backwards, hilarity ensues. |
I hate bowling. (Hate is a pretty strong emotion for such a
shitty game, actually.) |
That being said, I really, really, really, love this idea. |
Maybe a system for it has to be released and past the fowl
line. or just past the fowl line for auto penalty system :) |
My first version of this just had you rolling the ball
through a puddle of burning gasoline towards a bunch
of pins soaked in more gasoline. |
Not very elegant, but it would work. |
Evidently they burn just by being lit being made with plastic
and all. (see link) |

This concept should be expanded to encompass most pro ball
sports. + |
