I don't like staff meetings. Listening to everyone blab about the status of the projects they're working on, which usually have nothing to do with the projects I'm working on, is boring and often meaningless.

But, I could be made to enjoy and even look forward to the weekly meeting if, during one team's report the manager would call out different Film, Theater, and Television styles and require the presentation to be given in that form.

This doesn't have to be done for the WHOLE meeting, just once in a while to add a little levity.

Try giving a whole report with a coworker in Questions Only. Now that would be a challenge.

Workers could also be more motivated to start new assignments if a little fun were injected: as in "Tom, please show Robert how to run the spreadsheet program to compute the interest rate. But Robert, you're a housewife whose husband doesn't pay enough attention to her, and Tom, you turn into a werewolf every time you hear someone mention a computer term. Go."

I think I would enjoy watching such a meeting almost as much as I would hate having to participate.

I'm going to distribute this to my coworkers. Thanks, [phundug]

Strangely, this happened on my last "team meeting". One of the guys started commenting on his progress the previous week and work for this week in the style of a football commentary. It lightened the meeting somewhat. Brightened my day. Lovely.

I could see this as an episode of 'the Office.'
