specially designed wet suits for cats and dogs, or other pets that don't like getting wet, but might enjoy swimming with a rubber suit on in nice warm water with an oxygen tank. (small)

Before mentioning sacks full of kittens, I'd like to draw your attention to Mabel, the Swimming Wonder Monkey (see link), who used an aqualung, and warn you that animals and water don't often mix; but if you add technology to that, you're only a gnat's shuffle away from disaster.

I thought a wet suit kept you dry - well there you go - I will research this gap in my knowledge

No, a wet-suit is to keep you warm. It traps a layer of water between its elf and your elf, and this acts as an insulator. A dry-suit keeps you dry.
