category pull down menus

The category pull down menu is hellish.

Instead, use nested pulldowns. The first one consists of business, computers, etc. The 2nd one is a subcategory, and so on. ie, business would have a secondary pulldown consisting of advertising, which would have a third, with ad campaign, media, and media would have audio, billboard, mail, personal, etc.

'cuz otherwise, life is a little too short to spend navigating that single pull-down menu. Think of all the time I can spend coming up with half-baked ideas instead!

       Someone gave me this link once (SEE LINK). Simply click on the link, use Edit->Find in your browser window to find the right category for you, then click that category.   

       Now click on any idea listed in this category.   

       NOW, when you choose "New Idea", the Category menu will already have this category filled in.   

       'xperienced posters know the shortcuts :)

       Someone posted this idea once before. It may still be here (can't be bothered to look).   

       If I recall correctly, jutta was against the use of the javascript necessary to do this. She will, of course, correct me if I recall incorrectly.

       Waugs is right, to get that sort of interaction you'd need some javascript on the page to make the second drop-down change its contents when you picked a major category. jutta prefers not to use client side scripting.

       another shortcut, similar to [phundug]'s link, but as a way to narrow down to your category is to click the major category in the bottom bar, select subcategory, select idea. Then a new idea will have the same category as the one you are reading. This also helps to look for similar ideas before posting.
