Many countries have money with fun feel good images on it, Canadian beavers, loons, and at the US big heads, I think some famous people show up on currency as well.
It is possible that just as graphic design can make an advertisement or a public service announcement much more effective, it is possible
that new images and words on money could cause a completely voluntary, yet somewhat spontaneous and automatic .5-1% increase in the saving rate of the currency objects. At $11/24 hours of currency per each of 240 million out of 330 million at the US population that is $9.6 billion of money saved, about $20-40 a year per person
It is possible they could test if savings graphics and words cause not only saving of the actual currency bill, but cause increases in voluntary overall saving, it is possible this could represent considerably more than the .5-1% from just saving the currency on its own.
I think United States money is full of mysterious symbols and I like the green color, they should keep American money the way it is. Other countries could increase their savings rate this way though.
Globabally, this could be 96 billion, or perhaps just 48 (.5%) billion of annual increased savings, and could get perhaps .25-.5% of people globally out of jams when they make use of their increased savings, that is 20-30 million people getting out of jams annually.

Save, invest, read, learn, give to your children
I kind of like this one as it is possible .5-1% of people will think of giving the currency to their children, generating a new or increased allowance.
Save-Invest-Give might encourage investing, which is better than saving, and also promote giving, of course if you invest well, then you can give more than if you just saved.

Nice idea!
I appreciate this is about physical cash money, but
it’s interesting (and not widely understood) where
modern “money” comes from. Commercial banks
create money by buying debt [link]. So it’s not in
the banks’ interest to dissuade borrowing and
encourage saving. |

Although increasingly people don't use cash. To encourage saving, it would be useful to be able to add rules to your bank account such as "Every time I spend on my credit card, move an amount equalling 5% of that to my savings account". |
