Droopy House Eyelids

solar-powered shutter lifters

Insulated window shutters that lift or pivot upwards. The lifter mechanism has a slippy clutch built-in.. i.e. the shutter will slowly drift down under its own weight if the lifting-string-loop is not continually being pulled. A solar panel runs a small motor which pulls on the lifter. In the morning, the shutters are lifted. At night, the house gets sleepy and the 'eyelids' close.

This is good, although if the weather was patchy cloud it might look like the house was dozing off and then waking up.

       Which merits a pastry

Noise-activated too, of course, so that if there's a car crash outside the house, the shutters will jerk open.

Simulating excessive blinking on high-pollen-count days might be going too far.
