Every once and a while I'll sit down and try to create something for here.
I'll have nothing in mind. I'll just zone out and wait for something to pop in.
Something really cool did, but I'm a bit gooned so I lost it as fast as I could type in my own prompt... ...which I myself do not understand.
Maybe
it will mean something to somebody else.
I wrote;
'sonic displacement'
...
...as you were.
Sorry for the non-idea in advance.
Reminds me of this ...

But really THIS is what I'm thinking of

Acoustic Levitation perhaps?

The idea "Sonic Displacement" should be placed in the category Halfbakery: Song: N - Z. |

[+] because this is actually sort of interesting and I dont know why. |

Might I suggest a tagline for the bun, apropos of this post: |

Breathlessly awaiting genius. |

Ah yes I know ... I mean ... you are right about ... hang on a sec. |

In Arthur C. Clarke's story The Nine Billion Names of God, once the list of names had been compiled the Universe began to shut down. |

If we of the HB should one day reach our final idea... |
Ah, yes, sonic displacement. |
It's the ability to move things at a distance using constructive interference of sound waves. |
It's a strategy to quickly estimate the weight of an object which can float, involving your ears. |
It's a method for teleporting blue hedgehogs involving rings. |

It's as if you are in the forest where that tree falls. |

I asked Gemini for a list, here's the best of that list: |
Sonic People Nudger: Gentle sound waves to subtly guide pedestrian flow. (Slightly dystopian, good for comments) |
Pest Displacement Field: "Relocates" pests with targeted sound instead of harm. (Eco-ish, but still a bit techy) |
Argument De-escalator: Subtly alters voices to sound less aggressive. (Social engineering with sound) |
The Sonic Speed Bump (Discomfort Edition): Emits a disorienting hum for speeders. (Annoying tech, Halfbakery classic) |
Dust Bunny Herder: Sonic waves that "sweep" dust bunnies to one spot. (Silly, solves a minor annoyance) |
Liquid Surface Calligraphy: Using sound to "draw" temporary patterns on drinks. (Artistic, fleeting) |
Bad Habit "Nudge-Away" Sonic Wearable: Annoying sound to deter unwanted actions. (Behavioral modification tech) |
Sonic Clothes Wrinkle Agitator: Vibrates wrinkles out of clothes. (Slightly more practical, but still a bit Rube Goldberg) |
Focus Field Emitter: Desk toy that sonically "pushes away" distracting background noise. (Productivity gadget) |
Ephemeral Sonic Sculptures: Projectors that use intersecting sound beams to create temporary, visible disturbances in fog or dust, effectively "displacing" particles into art. (Art/tech combo) |
Selective Sound Sponge: A material or device that can be "tuned" to absorb and thus "displace" only very specific, annoying frequencies (e.g., a neighbor's sub-bass) from an environment. (Wishful thinking tech) |
None of those ring a bell, but... //Ephemeral Sonic Sculptures: Projectors that use intersecting sound beams to create temporary, visible disturbances in fog or dust, effectively "displacing" particles into art. (Art/tech combo)// ...is a thing I posted years ago where I figured out how to make invisible holograms from converging sound waves to collect particles and create a tactile holo-deck. Wtf did I call it again? Oh yeah, Hollowgram. |
it might have had to do with filtering different particles depending on which wave nodes they collect on, which is cool, but doesn't feel nearly as cool as whatever I was thinking at the time. |
It'll come to me again... that state of mind is a bitch to obtain so it might take while. |
